The Cultural Enrichment Center (“CEC,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) understands that plans can change. This Refund and Cancellation Policy explains the general rules that apply when a participant, customer, renter, or CEC cancels a class, workshop, program, event, registration, or facility rental. Any special refund or cancellation terms disclosed for a specific program, ticket, event, or signed rental agreement will control if they differ from this general policy.
1. Classes, Workshops, and Programs
Unless different terms are stated at registration, a participant who wishes to cancel a paid class, workshop, or program should notify CEC as soon as possible.
Cancellation at least 7 calendar days before the scheduled start date: eligible for a refund of the amount paid, less any clearly disclosed non-refundable processing or registration fees.
Cancellation 3–6 calendar days before the scheduled start date: eligible for a CEC credit for the amount paid, which may be applied to an eligible future CEC program within 12 months.
Cancellation less than 72 hours before the scheduled start date or failure to attend: generally non-refundable and not eligible for credit.
CEC may make reasonable exceptions in documented emergencies or other exceptional circumstances at its discretion.
2. Event Tickets and Special Events
Unless otherwise stated on the event registration or ticket page, event tickets are generally non-refundable within 72 hours of the event. Tickets may be transferable to another person when permitted by CEC and when advance notice is provided.
Certain special events, performances, fundraisers, or limited-capacity experiences may be designated as non-refundable at the time of purchase. Those event-specific terms will apply.
3. Facility and Event Space Rentals
Facility rentals may require a deposit and a separate rental agreement. The signed rental agreement will control the refund, cancellation, rescheduling, security deposit, damage, overtime, cleaning, and other rental-specific terms.
Unless a rental agreement provides otherwise, deposits used to reserve a date may be non-refundable once the reservation is confirmed. Any refundable portion of rental payments will depend on the amount of advance notice given and costs already incurred by CEC.
A renter who wishes to cancel or reschedule should contact CEC promptly in writing.
4. Cancellations by CEC
CEC may cancel, postpone, relocate, or reschedule a program, class, workshop, event, or activity because of severe weather, emergencies, low enrollment, instructor or performer availability, facility problems, safety concerns, government requirements, or other circumstances reasonably affecting the event.
If CEC cancels a paid program or event and does not provide a suitable rescheduled date, participants will generally be offered a refund or credit for the amount paid directly to CEC for the cancelled activity.
If an event is rescheduled, registration or tickets may be transferred to the new date. When appropriate, CEC may provide an alternative credit or refund option.
5. Weather and Emergency Closures
When severe weather or an emergency affects operations, CEC will make reasonable efforts to communicate closures, delays, or schedule changes through available contact methods.
If CEC closes and cancels an activity, the CEC-cancellation provisions above will apply. If CEC remains open and a participant chooses not to attend because of personal travel concerns, the participant cancellation rules generally apply, although CEC may consider exceptional circumstances on a case-by-case basis.
6. Missed Classes and No-Shows
Refunds and credits are generally not provided for missed classes, late arrivals, early departures, or no-shows when the scheduled program occurred as planned.
For multi-session programs, CEC is generally not required to provide a refund for individual sessions missed by a participant. When feasible, CEC may allow a make-up session, but make-up sessions are not guaranteed.
7. Memberships, Packages, and Multi-Session Programs
If CEC offers memberships, class packages, or multi-session programs, any specific cancellation, expiration, transfer, or refund terms disclosed at purchase will apply.
Used portions of a package or program are not refundable unless otherwise stated. Any approved refund may be reduced by the value of services already used and any properly disclosed non-refundable fees.
8. Merchandise and Materials
Fees paid for supplies, customized materials, merchandise, or other items already purchased or prepared specifically for a participant may be non-refundable when those costs cannot reasonably be recovered by CEC.
Any separate return policy provided at the time merchandise is purchased will apply.
9. Processing of Approved Refunds
Approved refunds will generally be returned to the original method of payment when reasonably possible. Processing time may vary depending on the payment provider or financial institution.
CEC is not responsible for processing delays caused by a bank, card issuer, payment processor, or other third-party provider.
10. Credits
When CEC issues a program credit instead of a refund, the credit is generally valid for 12 months from the date it is issued unless CEC specifies a different expiration date in writing.
Credits have no cash value, may not be redeemed for cash, and may be subject to program availability. CEC may determine whether a credit is transferable to another person.
11. How to Request a Cancellation or Refund
To request a cancellation, refund, credit, or rescheduling, contact CEC and provide your name, contact information, program or event name, scheduled date, and registration or payment details when available.
Requests should be sent to:
Cultural Enrichment Center (CEC)
3901 Calverton Blvd., Suite 105
Calverton, MD 20705
Phone: 240.583.1623
Email: info@culturalenrichmentcenter.org
Website: www.culturalenrichmentcenter.org
For purposes of determining whether a cancellation deadline was met, CEC may use the date and time the written cancellation request was received.
12. Exceptions and Applicable Law
CEC may approve exceptions to this policy when circumstances warrant. An exception granted in one situation does not require CEC to grant the same exception in another situation.
Nothing in this policy limits any refund, cancellation, or consumer right that cannot legally be waived under applicable law.
13. Changes to This Policy
CEC may update this Refund and Cancellation Policy from time to time. The policy in effect at the time of a registration, purchase, or booking will generally apply to that transaction unless applicable law or a written agreement requires otherwise.
